A quick statement about monkeypox in our community.
Since the 1980s, the Rochester Spa has worked in partnership with the Monroe County Department of Health to ensure access to testing and vaccinations. The Spa has been here through the HIV/AIDS crisis in the 80s, COVID just a year ago, and now we're looking at a non-fatal virus that's spreading through close or intimate contact.
HERE ARE A FEW WAYS TO PLAY IT SAFE.
Vaccinations are the best way to protect yourself against monkeypox. Two doses are required for full protection, and our partners at Trillium Health and Monroe County Department of Health can help you schedule your shot. Click the GET VACCINATED icon above to be directed to the Trillium Health website.
Protect yourselves and the community through open conversation with your partners. Be up front and honest if you've been feeling ill or if you're noticing an unexplained rash.
If you notice the symptoms of monkeypox (starts with flu-like symptoms, followed by lesions or a rash), talk to your health care provider and GET TESTED. If you need access to testing, please contact Monroe County Department of Health at 585 753 5555.
If you're into it, leather or latex gear can provide an effective barrier to skin to skin contact. Just remember to wash everything between partners.
HERE'S HOW WE'RE HELPING YOU PLAY IT SAFE.
The sanitizing sprays we use are 99.99% effective against bacteria and viruses, and are licensed for hospital use. When you check into your room, you can be confident that every surface in there has been cleaned and sanitized.
Linens and towels are washed in extremely hot water and bleach which is effective in neutralizing the virus.
Disinfecting wipes are used on all the hard surfaces around the spa - if you'd like one for any reason, just ask.
